2012 Teignmouth Jazz and Blues Festival

Many  venues, Teignmouth, Devon.

Friday –Saturday 16-18th November

Prices from £60, weekend stroller to £15 gig prices

Once again this November Teignmouth will see the sunshine breaking through the Autumn clouds with a festival of jazz and blues when the twenty seventh Festival hits town

With a brand new committee the Festival is continuing to bloom with not only over twenty five main performances but lectures and workshop by artistes as well an ever growing fringe with many outstanding gigs.

The Festival is covering a wide range of music from traditional through mainstream  and into cutting edge but takes a new direction in heading the bill with fusion jazz in the form of Eduardo Niebla   www.eduardoniebla.com  the virtuoso Spanish guitarist who fires his audience with flamenco, jazz , rock and Indian percussion to produce a breathtaking experience which stays in the musical memory for a long time afterwards.

International artistes continue with the outstanding bebop saxophonist Greg Abate www.gregabate.com who returns to Teignmouth after several years’ absence. With a huge track record of touring both with his own bands and  music legends he is set to lift the  roof in two gigs. While his old friend Alan Barnes headlines the Saturday night..

British musicians from the new wave such as Partikel www.partikel.co.uk / through to traditional such as Swingology www.swingology.net .The Festival is also keen to promote the many musicians who are resident in South Devon where there is a  swelling  hotbed of talent such as the Neil  Maya Band www.neilmayaquartet.co.uk , Mike Outram www.mikeoutram.com , Craig Milverton  www.craigmilverton.co.uk,  Louise Parker www.louiseparker.co.uk , and Zoe Schwarz www.zoeschwarz.com to name a few.

Teignmouth is a small resort with a growing musical reputation and the festival is increasingly celebrated by the town. The Fringe this year promises to be bigger than ever with many pubs and cafes featuring superb musicians whether blues, jazz or even rockabilly. Most venues are free and provide a rich backdrop to the main Festival.
