September 25, 2011

The Birmingham Stage Company is proud to present The Jungle Book live at Plymouth Pavilions from Wednesday 12 to Saturday 15 October 2011.

With a total of 8 performances, both in the daytime for a school outing and early evening for the families, this is the ultimate children’s story brought to life.

Relive Rudyard Kipling’s classic story about Mowgli, a young boy who is raised in the jungle by a family of wolves. When Sher Khan the tiger swears to kill the child, Baloo and Bagheera agree to take the boy to the man village for his safety. But the jungle holds dangers and surprises for them all – and Mowgli’s extraordinary adventure has just begun!

I have just been to see this production and although I appresciate the hard work that has gone into putting on a performance like this, I really feel it could have been made a lot more child friendly. I went in a group with 6 children aged 3 up to 12 and unfortunatley not one of them enjoyed it. The start of the show was quite dark and scared the little ones, the costumes were a little too ‘artistic’ and the children couldn’t relate to the characters and they didn’t sing any Jungle Book songs, especially Bear Necessities! I am afraid, very dissapointed – sorry!
