CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL 2013

CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL 2013

“The Best Little Festival in The South West”

FRIDAY 19th – SATURDAY 20th JULY 2013

The Boomtown Rats (featuring all four original members including Bob Geldof) also Billy Bragg, Mystery Jets and many more amazing artists complete Chagstock Festival line up

Chagstock is one of the Westcountry’s best-loved festivals. Set in 45 acres of farmland on the northern edge of Devon’s beautiful Dartmoor, Chagstock is renowned for its stunning location, diverse line-up of artists & family-friendly atmosphere. Chagstock showcases the very best music, food & entertainment that the Westcountry & the UK have to offer.

Returning after the stunning sell-out success of last year’s event which featured KT Tunstall, Fun Lovin Criminals, Seth Lakeman & Alabama 3 amongst many others, Chagstock retains its traditional 2-day format in 2013. As introduced last year in recognition of the tough economic climate for families, all children under 12 can attend for free. Chagstock’s capacity is once again capped at just 5,000 tickets to ensure that its intimate, family-friendly atmosphere is maintained. This year’s fancy dress theme will be ‘Circus’

CHAGSTOCK FESTIVAL have announced Mystery Jets as their final main stage headliner for 2013.  They join a host of new additions to the bill, including Disraeli & The Small Gods, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, Crowns, Crazy Arm & Matthew & Me in completing the 2013 line-up.

Comprising father-and-son combo Henry & Blaine Harrison, alongside William Rees & Kapil Traveldi, Mystery Jets were formed on Eel Pie Island when the boys were still at school. Seven years & four albums later they are still delighting audiences around the world with hits including as Young Love & Two Doors Down. Mystery Jets will headline Chagstock shortly after supporting Mumford and Sons.

Disraeli & The Small Gods are currently making waves throughout the music world, with their 7-piece melodic, unashamedly heartfelt reinvention of hiphop leading The Independent to declare, “their folk, rap, spoken word and hymns embody 21st Century folk.”

Hailing from Western Australia, Emily Barker is a compelling songwriter with a gift for weaving melody & words. Her talent is perfectly complimented by the magnificent arrangements of her three-piece ensemble, The Red Clay Halo. Emily is renowned for writing & recording the theme to the BBC One’s, Wallander, which won a BAFTA & a Royal Television Award.

These are exciting times for Cornish sea-shanty punks, Crowns. With a major Dropkick Murphy’s support tour under their belts, Mike Davis playing them on Radio 1, & 2013 festival appearances aside from Chagstock including Glastonbury, Download & Hard Rock Calling, this may well be the year they hit the big time.

Tickets are priced at £65 (Adults), £40 (Under 18’s),

Under 12’s are free (ticket is still required). A Family Ticket for 2 Adults & 2 Under 18s is £170.

Prawle Fair at 2pm at East Prawle, Devon’s most southerly village

Sunday 26th May  2013

One of the most popular events in the South Hams, Prawle Fair is like stepping back in time with all the old favourite attractions such as swing boats, donkey rides, children’s train ride, test your strength, slippery pole, hoopla, raffles, children’s tug of war and lots more.

A children’s fancy dress competition follows the traditional raising of the glove and later in the afternoon there are knobbly knees and handsomest ankles contests for anyone who wants to exhibit their leggy charms. For those children feeling energetic there are children’s sports to take part in, and for those just wanting to watch someone else do the hard work there’s a dog agility display.

There is live music on the green all afternoon from the excellent Raggle Taggle Band and refreshments are available all afternoon from various stalls around the fair, and of course from the Piglet Cafe and the Pigs Nose Inn.

All set on and around the Village Green with the picturesque backdrop of rolling hills and sea views.

The fair starts at 2pm and goes on to around 5pm, depending on the weather and how much fun everyone is having! Entrance to the Fair is free. Parking is just £2 per car.

Torbay Holiday Helpers Network – THHN

•    The Torbay Holiday Helpers Network gives free action packed holidays to families who have children suffering from serious illness, to bereaved families who have lost a child or parent and to families who have a terminally ill parent.

•    The THHN is a fantastic network of businesses, groups and individuals who offer their products & services for free.

•    They enable us to offer truly special holidays to some wonderful people who really do deserve a chance to spend some quality time together as a family.

•    Thanks to everyone in our fantastic network we believe we do some great work.  But, don’t just take our word for it….

“We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday.  We cannot endorse highly enough the good work of the charity which is providing many happy memories for families such as ours.  So thank you THHN for your generosity and we hope to see you again one day.”

“You really have helped to create wonderful, happy memories, which we will cherish forever”

“We can’t put into words how grateful we all are to you – and everyone involved in THHN for giving us a week of fun, laughter and memories that we will treasure forever.”

“Thank you to all the local businesses that made the holiday all the more enjoyable and special.  For the first time in 6 months we have found ourselves able to smile and actually have fun as a family again.  Those memories are priceless and have given us hope for the future.  Thank you so much”

“Whatever happens to our family this year, next year or any time now, we’ll have these memories and nothing can take it away, no matter how difficult and traumatic things can be.  The wonderful thing about the THHN is that many people give what they can – be it a week in their hotel, a fish and chip meal, a cream tea or a free pass to their attraction.  Put all this together and a family gets the holiday of a lifetime!”

Since 2009 we have given over 300 families some wonderful holidays
and wonderful memories. For some it has sadly been the last holiday they have taken as a complete family, before losing a loved one to a cruel illness! We want to keep doing this.
Please get in touch to see how you can help.
