THE Mare and Foal Sanctuary is saddling up for the grand opening of its new shop in Plainmoor, Torquay on Saturday, August 8th at 10am.
The local store at 141 St Marychurch Road, Plainmoor, Torquay, TQ1 3HW, is just a few miles from the charity’s Newton Abbot base and will help to raise more funds towards its vital work rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming vulnerable equines.
One of the Sanctuary’s loveable ponies will be meeting and greeting visitors from 10.30am- 12.30pm, while staff will be on hand all day to help shoppers grab a bargain and learn more about the Sanctuary’s work.
Stocking everything from clothing to toys, the new shop has already received some kind donations from local supporters and will be open from 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm every Sunday.
Josie Staddon, Area Shop Manager for The Mare and Foal Sanctuary, said: “We’ve been fortunate enough to set up in some wonderful locations around the area and it’s great that we’re now going to be in Plainmoor. Not only is it close to our Newton Abbot headquarters but it’s also a short distance from our Visitor Centre at Coombe Park, near Totnes.
“We and our equine guests are very much looking forward to welcoming people in who want to find that special gift or donate their unwanted items to sell on.
“We’re also looking for volunteers to help, even if it’s only a few hours a week.
“The money raised from our shops goes towards the care of our horses and ponies and it’s testament to our wonderful supporters that we’re able to keep raising money in this way.”
Prior to the opening, members of the public are kindly being asked to donate items via one of the charity’s existing shops in Babbacombe, Bovey Tracey, Brixham, Budleigh Salterton, Dawlish, Kingsbridge, Newton Abbot, Sidmouth, South Brent and The Mare and Foal Sanctuary Visitor Centre at Coombe Park. Unfortunately the shops are unable to take large items of furniture.
