From Indie, Rock, Pop and Folk, to Alternative and Metal, we have an exciting line-up of singer songwriter soloists to big bands exploding with on stage dynamics and tracks that you may very well hear across the radio stations and music channels in the future.

For the musicians involved, the organisers of this event will be working extremely hard to make the showcase known to all those within the music industry who could potentially further their musical careers. We not only want to put a great show on, but the main principal behind Devon Unsigned is to help the bands and artistes involved. The showcase will run from 2pm on Sunday the 3rd of May until past 2am the following morning (Bank holiday Monday). It will begin with our sublime acoustic artists, out in the superb open terrace (weather permitting) before moving inside the fantastic PLAY venue for our electric sets. Elbow @ Plymouth Pavilions

elbow.1Elbow announced a UK tour for March 2009 and will play Plymouth Pavilions on Wednesday 11 March.

Having secured the Nationwide Mercury Prize for their current album, The Seldom Seen Kid, Elbow are arguably the most popular winners of the award ever and have recently completed a sell out UK tour including three incredible nights at London’s Roundhouse and a valedictory double header at their home town’s Manchester Apollo. The Seldom Seen Kid was proclaimed as one of the best albums of 2008 on its release in March of last year and has gone on to be the band’s most successful album to date.

Rod Stewart @ Home Park

rodstewartRod Stewart CBE was born 10 January 1945 & raised in London. He has Scottish and English parentage.

With his distinctive raspy voice, Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s and early ’70s with The Jeff Beck Group and then The Faces. He launched his solo career in 1969 with his debut album An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down. His work with The Jeff Beck Group and The Faces proved to be influential on the formation of the heavy metal and punk rock genres.

With his career in its fifth decade, Stewart has achieved numerous solo hit singles worldwide, most notably in the UK, where he has gained six consecutive number one albums and his tally of 62 hit singles include 31 that reached the top 10, six of which gained the number one position. He has also had 16 top ten singles in the USA, with four of these reaching number one. His best known solo hit singles include “Maggie May”, “You Wear It Well”, “Sailing”, “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)”, “Hot Legs”, “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, “Forever Young” and “Rhythm of My Heart.” It has been estimated that Stewart’s album and single sales total more than 250 million, earning him a place on the list of best-selling music artists.

For the first time in his amazing career Rod is heading down to Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park on Thursday 2nd July to perform what is at the moment his only confirmed UK date for 2009.

Over the last couple of years Home Park have been firmly establishing themselves as one of the best venues with there now legendary ‘Live and Kicking’ concert series. With previous acts such as George Michael & Elton John and of course last year Westlife & Meatloaf.  The talent keeps getting better & better & it is an amazing achievement bringing world class acts to the South West.  I am sure this concert will be a very memorable occasion.

Tickets are £100, £75, £65 and £55, and are available from the Home Park Box Office or by phone (0845 338 7232 and, after 6pm on Friday, February 6, from See Tickets (0844 412 4639, www.seetickets.com).

Rachel Jones Quartet

rachelThe RJQ were formed in the summer of 2008 for the Brixham Festival, Fishstock. Lead singer Rachel Jones had been gigging around Brixham for some time before and had been asked to perform at the gig.

Deciding she would like to perform with a band, The Rachel Jones Quartet – or RJQ as they are now known – were formed. Andy Turner took up the role of percussionist, Max Ellis on the bass and Palm FM presenter Ben Moseby on backing vocals and keyboards.

The RJQ already has a huge following already. They play everything from Coldplay to Beatles and Des’ree to Scouting for Girls. Rachel is also a very talented songwriter and often performs some of her own material.

The band are always adding to their setlist. Most recently they have put their own unique twist on the Girls Aloud song “Love Machine” and the Hooisers track “Worried About Ray”. Both have been greeted with much enthusiasm by their audience. They also plan to expand this year by adding more musicians to the lineup. Watch this space!

2009 looks like it is going to be a busy year for the band with a residency at The Burton already under way and more and more gigs across Torbay and South Devon. The band are also set to play at this years Palm Party On The Green and the ever popular Brixham Happenin’
