The season’s curtain raiser at Exeter, there’ll be a warm welcome to the racecourse with free money off vouchers to the Coal Bar + Grill in Princesshay, Exeter and Leonard Coombe Master Saddlers and Country Life, Newton Abbot for every racegoer. Top sporting action is guaranteed as the country’s leading trainers begin their horse’s campaign for the season ahead and the advice is to keep a firm eye on the action with many potential super starts sure to race at the track.
Tuesday, October 18 First race 2.10-pm
Racing features the Best Mate Novices’ Chase and the equivalent race launched the racehorse’s glittering career in 2002. To celebrate the horse’s association with the course, Exeter is offering a special “best mate” deal to anyone who brings their friend racing for the first time. If they pre-book by Oct 16 and their details are new to the data base, they both get in for the price of one (call 0844 5793005 and quote BMATE). Best Mate went on to win 3 successive Gold Cup victories and became one of the nation’s most loved racehorses. This is also a free raceday for all students.
Tuesday, November 1 First race 1.50pm
Featuring the Tote Haldon Gold Cup, this is traditionally a real highlight of the National Hunt season and the first major prize for the country’s top two mile chasers. It has an outstanding roll call of winners including Best Mate, Flagship Uberalles, Barnbrook Again, Waterloo Boy and Edredon Bleu. The racecourse will also be supporting the Royal British Legion with a charitable collection.
Wednesday, November 9 First race 1.20pm
It’s Prize Winners’ Day at Exeter Racecourse when all you have to do to win some great prizes, including a year’s supply of Burts Chips, is turn up. It’s always a great day for the quality of racing and last year’s winners included Highland Valley and Royal Charm who both look sure to make their marks in top races this season.
