A sleigh-load of Santas will be descending from the clouds of South Devon this festive season for Rowcroft’s second Santa Skydive!
Take your fundraising and festive spirits to new heights by taking on Rowcroft’s Christmas-themed skydive, which will be held on the 5th December 2015 at Dunkeswell airfield, near Honiton.
The hospice is on the hunt for Father Christmas fundraisers who want to take part in the 15,000ft jump on their behalf. Hayley Norrish, Senior Community Fundraiser for Rowcroft said: “This is the perfect opportunity to get into the festive spirit and spread some seasonal goodwill as you leap from the clouds dressed as Santa.
“Skydiving is an amazing experience and such a brilliant way to raise funds for the hospice. We would encourage anybody who has thought about this to get in touch for more information.”
The skydive is open to those aged 16 and over, no experience is necessary and all the training will be given on the day. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £395 in sponsorship, but the more money raised, the greater the benefit to the hospice. Hayley said: “Our skydivers friends and family are always so keen to sponsor them as it really is an amazing feat of bravery!”
Lorraine Bowey from Torquay took part last year and said: “I embarked on the Santa Skydive in order to raise money for the fantastic Rowcroft Hospice in memory of my aunt, Maureen Mahoney. “Prior to her passing she received care at the hospice’s Inpatient Unit and she passed away with a smile on her face and very much at ease. “I cannot explain how grateful my whole family were to know that she was treated with the care and compassion she herself showed to others and I believe that final smile said it all.”
There are just a few places left on Rowcroft’s Santa Skydive day event on Saturday 5 December. The hospice is urging those brave enough to take on a challenge of a lifetime to get in touch.
